Snapshot two: Winning Is In Our Blood
The life of a cheerleader has the biggest adrenaline rush you can ever have when you step foot on that stage in front of thousands of people while being filmed and put on ESPN 3. Ashley, my best friend cheers with me at The Matrix All-stars, and our team X4 made it to WSF (World Spirit Federation) one of the most competitive competitions we have ever been to.
We go into warm ups practicing what we have practice for all season long, and show our best to frighten the other teams.  As we stand back stage our team does a little dance before we pray.
Coach Matt yells, “Left foot, right foot, shake shake, left hand, right hand shake shake shake, and spin spin shake shake”.  To get our nerves to settle a little bit.
Then we pray.
Grace then says,
 “ Dear Lord,
Help us to do well in our competition.
We promise to give it our all.
We promise to try our best.
We promise to never forget you.
 Help us not get hurt.
For we will always love you.
Amen”.
As we go to take the floor the announcer said “ Please welcome the Matrix X4 from Columbus OH.”
We then take the floor running, spiriting, smiling and jumping. Then, we get into motion and wait for the music to begin. As we go through the routine we go from jumps, to main stunts, tumbling, pyramid and then dance this all takes two minutes and thirty seconds. As we end we lay there trying to catch our breaths like a runner who just finished a marathon. There are some who are hurt and you have to help carry off the floor, make sure no bows or shoes are lying on the floor. As we exit the floor we all have a little group chat on what had happen.
We just walk around after all of that until its time for awards we then go sit with our team out on the floor dance and sing to the music that the DJ is playing and then the nerves kick in as we wait for the judges score so we can know what place we got. The Judge says senior level four coed we all hold hands, and close our eyes hoping for the best outcome. When the judge said “In first place congratulations to the Matrix X4 coed”. We all rise to our feet and jump up and down, hugging each other and crying with tears of happiness. We then leave and go home, so with smiles on our faces and that feeling of great pride just knowing we are number one.

  1. This gave me chills thinking about the feeling before you compete especially waiting for the music to start. It's the craziest feeling in the world. I personally hate competing but I love competitions!
