Journal #2 by Jordan Kightlinger

Hello, my name is Jordan Kightlinger. My interesting fact that I wrote was my mom is black, therefore, I am half-black, which people tend to not believe. When I get older, my goals are to finish college, create a loving family, and live out the rest of my years with my loving wife. Currently,  I am majoring in Psychology because I am studying to be a Psychologist/Psychiatrist, I have not decided which one I want to be yet. I currently work at Stewart's Root Beer Stand as the fry cook, but we are closing for the season real soon. I wish to get along with all of you and cannot wait to get to know you all.

This is me with the cap, my sister, and my two brothers.
When I read the House on Mango Street, I enjoyed the simplicity of the text that the author was going for. When she was describing her story to the audience, she was very straight forward about and was very simple in her descriptions of it. She explained how she moved multiple times and how raggedy the place were in a manner that was not too complicated. Also, I thought the theme of the chapter was not so much expressed in the text, but more so in how she writes, simple is not always bad.

  1. Hey! I really liked how she just kept it simple too. I thought it just helps you understand the book better.

  2. I couldn't agree more! The way she kept the story straight forward and to the point, kept my attention more than if she would've elaborately described it.

  3. I also agree! The straight forwardness kept my mind from wondering off and creating other interpretations.
